Position Summary:

The Medical Director works with the scientific team, as well as the Account and Editorial teams, to assist in ensuring the scientific integrity of all client-related projects and new business endeavors. The Medical Director is responsible for providing direction in support of the clients’ marketing and medical goals. The Medical Director accomplishes this by supporting team members in all phases of activity including brainstorming, researching, creating and revising content for a Medical Education and Communications company international in scope, as well as has developed independence in fulfilling client-based requests and KOL relationships.


  • Liaise with client and fulfill client-based requests
  • Develop strong professional relationships with the client and advise on how science can augment their marketing and medical efforts through strategic and tactical plans
  • Ensure highest standards of deliverables from a scientific and marketing basis
  • Ensure quality standards of writing staff and freelancers
  • Develop and oversee projects that demand a high degree of scientific and/or technical understanding
  • Accountable for client satisfaction, scientific rigor and accuracy, and strategic excellence of all projects for which he/she is responsible
  • Work independently and manage and implement programs/initiatives that fall under his/her direct supervision
  • Support new business development
  • Assist in the training of more junior scientific team members
  • Read, familiarize, interpret and distill for scientific and marketing messages content of medical journal articles and pharmaceutical clinical study reports
  • Hands-on medical writing, editing, re-writing through assistance in the development of scientific content across all areas of medical education. This includes but is not limited to, advisory boards, slide kits, educational monographs, publication plans, symposia, faculty meetings, scientific message development, and opinion leader identification and management
  • Review of scientific content for accuracy
  • Attend scientific/client meetings as the science lead on individual accounts
  • Build professional relationships by working and interacting with faculty and key opinion leaders in related therapeutic areas
  • Attend scientific meetings, symposia, and congresses with the goal of collecting, analyzing and identifying potentially influential data from competitors


  • Demonstrated leadership role in Medical Education or related field
  • Ability to handle multiple projects, attention to detail, and act as a collaborative team member
  • Accountable for delivering projects on time
  • KOL liaison
  • Intermediate skills in Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Adobe Acrobat, Internet search
  • Able to provide guidance to account/editorial teams on project development
  • Moderate travel is required



  • A postgraduate degree (PhD, PharmD, MD, etc.) with first-hand research or clinical practice experience is preferred.
  • Minor in Marketing or Communications, a plus


  • 3-5 years experience in Medical Education, or related field
