Position Summary:

The Scientific Associate works with the Scientific team, as well as the Account and Editorial teams, to assist in ensuring the scientific integrity of all client-related projects and new business endeavors. The Scientific Associate accomplishes this by supporting team members in all phases of activity including brainstorming, researching, creating and revising content for a Medical Education and Communications company international in scope.

Responsibilities:

  • Read, familiarize, interpret and distill for marketing messages content of medical journal articles and pharmaceutical clinical study reports
  • Hands-on medical writing, editing, re-writing through assistance in development of scientific content across all areas of medical education. This includes but is not limited to, advisory boards, slide kits, educational monographs, publication plans, symposia, faculty meetings, scientific message development, and opinion leader identification and management.
  • Review scientific content for accuracy
  • Conduct literature searches
  • Research information about physician opinion leaders, medical journals and conferences, via on-line and other electronic sources / databases
  • Other Editorial and Administrative assistance when necessary
  • Attend scientific/client meetings together with senior science team member

Qualifications:

  • Familiarity with scientific and clinical material required for the position,
  • A proven background in science and/or medicine, preferably in an area compatible to one or more key therapeutic areas.
  • A postgraduate degree beyond MS level is preferred (PhD, PharmD, MD, etc.) with first-hand research or clinical practice experience.
  • Publications in the scientific/medical peer-reviewed literature are desirable.

Education:

  • MD, PhD, or PharmD
  • Major in Science (Pre-Med, Biology, Chemistry, Psychiatry, etc)
  • Minor in Marketing or Communications, a plus

Experience:

  • 0-1 years experience in Medical Education, or related field

Other:

  • Ability to handle multiple projects, attention to detail, and act as a team member
  • Beginner to Intermediate skills in Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Adobe Acrobat, Internet search
  • Knowledge of PubMed
