Position Summary

The Market Access Management Consultant provides payer and market access strategic direction as well as tactical direction/execution on various agency accounts. In this manner, the Market Access Management Consultant acts as a consultant to the brand and account groups. S/he ensures that each account group is aware of all public and private payer and policy related issues facing its clients and provides strategic and tactical suggestions to help clients achieve the highest level of market access and managed care penetration possible. S/he ensures that all communications targeting market access and managed care stakeholders are sound and designed to benefit our clients’ brands. S/he is also responsible for identifying and developing new business leads and opportunities and working in conjunction with the broader team to facilitate the appropriate approach.


  • Provides client specific market access strategies within the US market for both drugs and devices across a broad range of therapeutic indications
  • Has a deep understanding of the US managed care market and relevant payer stakeholders
  • Brings relationships with relevant public and private payer stakeholders and decision makers critical to influencing reimbursement decisions within the US healthcare market
  • Develops relationships with pharmaceutical clients and grows a strong client contacts base to drive new business development
  • Take the lead on strategic and tactical planning and implementation for clients drawing on a broad range of skill sets across WG
  • Understands the role of clinical and HEOR departments and their contribution towards development of robust market access strategies
  • Thoroughly familiar with appropriate brand data (coverage level, pricing, clinical and health economic findings, outcomes data, competitors, drivers/ barriers to access)
  • Attendance at appropriate conferences to gather data and when appropriate, interview experts regarding competitive products and evolving therapies
  • Participate in aspects of new business where appropriate to assist in the development of managed care content and participate in presentations to prospective clients
  • Has the ability to flex knowledge and strategies for both US and Global clients, although primarily US focused
  • Provides senior guidance on critical financial and project management aspects of projects to ensure profitable delivery and adherence to WG processes

  • A progressive leader with depth of knowledge of Affordable Care Act and the evolving US healthcare landscape, CMS policy, procedures & reimbursement
  • A clear understanding of US formulary decision making and population health decision making with a lens on how to support client navigation for optimal access
  • Highly organized, decisive leader who is able to effectively communicate with clients, as well as internal colleagues and partnering companies
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate at multiple levels on health economics, clinical, or public health documents across a spectrum of therapeutic categories
  • Management consultancy skills that support a strong business development culture amongst team members and drive new business opportunities
  • Excellent project management and staff planning abilities
  • Proven business development skills
  • Evidence of strong strategic thinking, analytics/modeling, planning and organizational skills required
  • EX-US experience a plus but not required
  • 40%+ travel within the US is anticipated. Some global travel may be required as well
  • Existing relationships with stakeholders at US managed care companies or other KOLs with responsibility for formulary decision making or population health



  • Advanced degree in science, engineering, business or a related field; ideally with a degree in life sciences.
  • Master degree preferred


  • 3-5 years’ experience within managed care/ market access
  • Communications company experience:
  • Managed markets or organizational customer marketer
  • Payer Marketing
  • Examples of relevant experience outside a market access communications firm include:
  • Health plan or PBM experience:
  • Quality, utilization, disease, or case manager with an MSW, MS-RN, or MS-RD degree/credential
  • Pharmacoeconomics director with MPH, PhD, or MS degree
  • HEDIS director
  • Health plan pharmacy director (RPH or PharmD)
  • Health plan medical director
  • Relevant drug company experience includes:
  • Managed care marketer or Market Access Lead
  • Customer Business unit or organizational customer marketer
  • Relevant segment experience
  • Hospital or medical center
  • Director of business operations related to reimbursement and coverage
  • Public health director
  • VA/DoD medical or pharmacy director
  • Disease Management Company
  • Medical director, RN, RPH, or PharmD
  • Relevant consulting experience
  • Healthcare analyst, management consultant, market access analyst
